Here's how you'll have an impact:

  • Coach elite athletes in areas such as daily nutrition for performance and health, recovery nutrition strategies, weight and body composition issues, nutrition disorders/disordered eating, and supplements.

  • Maintain accurate knowledge and understanding of the leading research in sport dietetics throughout the world. Translate latest scientific evidence into practical sport nutrition recommendations.

  • Collaborate with the Sport Dietitians of the other Sport Performance teams as well as the appropriate team members in other USOPC sport divisions to ensure that the USOPC has an integrated world-class service delivery model.

  • Design, track, and document measurable outcomes of nutrition services. Analyze and interpret collected data in the context of enhancing athletic performance and health.

  • Work as a proactive, collaborative member of an assigned Sport team that includes strength and conditioning, physiology, psychology, biomechanics, performance technology, and medical professionals to service elite athletes.

  • Serve as a liaison with USOPC food services staff and work to ensure the coordination of services and development of best practices across all training centers.

  • Coordinate efforts around domestic and/or international travel nutrition to best prepare athletes for training and competition.

  • Participate in the development of printed, multi-media, and interactive nutrition-focused educational materials, including the build out of the Sport Nutrition section of the USOPC’s Sport Performance website.

  • Evaluate athlete energy expenditure and balance and provide weight management protocols, when appropriate, with athletes to achieve performance and health goals.

  • Measure and assess body composition using commonly accepted diagnostic tools.

  • Lead in the development and implementation of a nutrition services and eating disorders protocol.

  • Work closely with other USOPC departments and staff to assist in the design and implementation of blood testing protocols focused on optimizing athlete health and performance

 

Here are the qualifications you'll need to be effective:

  • Bachelor or Graduate degree and/or qualifications in Exercise or Sport Science
  • Post-Graduate degree and/or qualifications in Human Nutrition and Dietetics

  • Dietetic Registration with the Academy of Nutrition & Dietetics
  • 8 or more years of experience coaching/counseling elite athletes at the international or professional level
  • 3-5 years of experience working with weight-managed sports
  • Demonstrated ability to lead a project team or staff
  • Excellent communication, presentation, and coaching/counseling skills
  • Experience working with tools and techniques common in the field of sport nutrition (e.g., calipers, DXA, etc.)
  • Demonstrated ability in developing strategic plans and setting goals
  • Leadership and mentoring for technical skills and event planning
  • Ability to work in a cross-cultural environment
  • Proven track record of expertise in the field of sport dietetics
  • Experience organizing professional development conferences and/or symposiums

Here are some things that will make you stand out:

  • Certified Specialist in Sport Dietetics preferred
  • ISAK Certification preferred

Here's where you'll work:

  • Colorado Springs Olympic & Paralympic Training Center with frequent travel domestically and internationally (approx. 260 days per year)

Here's some other info you need to know:

  • This is a full-time, exempt, position intended to work 40 hours per week.
  • Hiring Pay Range: $92,500-117,000 per year
  • Bonus:  This position will be eligible for the Annual Incentive Award Program at a 15% target. This program is subject to change or elimination by the USOPC at any time at its sole discretion.
