Job Description

The Toronto Blue Jays are seeking a Registered Dietitian to fulfill an opening within our minor league system. This is an entry-level position for a dietitian looking to gain experiences within professional baseball nutrition. Candidates will start the season at our Player Development Complex in Dunedin, FL (January – April). Exact location during the baseball season (April – September) is TBD. Candidates will be assigned to off season camps in Dunedin, FL at the end of the regular season (exact dates TBD).


Responsibilities: 

- Help drive and support player development plans and accountability related to nutrition goals

- Educate players on key performance nutrition concepts

- Performa group education sessions

- Provide 1-on-1 counseling

- Documentation of player nutrition findings and goal progress

- Interpret body composition data and appropriately communicate with staff and players

- Develop pregame and postgame menus within our nutrition guidelines and budget

- Ensure appropriate sanitation and handling of meals, snacks, and supplements

- Assist in developing and implementing nutrition protocols and procedures

- Other duties as assigned


Requirements

- Registered Dietitian with active registration by the Commission on Dietetic Registration

- ServSafe Food Protection Manager Certification 

- State licensure required upon hire for Florida

- Current passport

- Knowledge and application of behavior change, medical nutrition therapy, ergogenic aids and supplementation 

- Receptive to feedback 

- Highly motivated and excellent problem solver

- Exceptional communication skills, both verbally and in writing

- The ability to work a non-standard work week, including nights, weekends and holidays

- Ability to work within multicultural populations


Preferred Skills

- ISAK credential preferred

- Basic X-Ray Machine Operator Certification 

- Bilingual English and Spanish preferred 

- Experience working within professional and/or collegiate athletics 

- Basic understanding of the sport and culture of baseball


Contract Details

This position will begin in January 2022 and end in December 2022. You will report directly to the MiLB Nutrition Coordinator. All contract details will be discussed within the interview process.
