Team Performance Dietitian (2)

The University of Michigan Athletic Department is currently seeking applicants for two (2) Full Time Team Performance Dietitians

 

The Team Performance Dietitian will serve as an integral member of the Department’s inter-disciplinary health care team and will work directly with Student-Athlete Health and Welfare personnel, coaches, Athletic Counseling and mental health personnel, and other exercise science and allied health personnel to deliver high-level comprehensive, practical, and evidence-based performance nutrition, healthcare, and lifetime wellness services for University of Michigan student-athletes. The Team Performance Dietitian will have a wide range of clinical and administrative daily responsibilities to include individual and group/team nutrition counseling and education; documentation and analysis of performance nutrition outcomes and metrics; rest, recovery, and regeneration, and injury risk stratification program development and implementation; testing and evaluation; data entry, interpretation, and report generation; daily interaction, communication, and relationship building with Student-Athlete Health and Welfare personnel, coaching personnel, exercise science personnel, athletic administration, and other members of the campus community; assisting with various administrative duties; and performing other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

§  Master’s Degree in clinical nutrition, exercise science or a related field;

§  Registered Dietitian (RD) with active status through the Commission on Dietetic Registration (www.cdrnet.org);

§  Current or be eligible for licensure as a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist (RDN) within the state of Michigan.

§  One (1) to two (2) years of experience as a Registered Dietitian in intercollegiate or professional athletics;

§  Current CPR, AED, and First Aid certification;

§  Competence in obtaining and interpreting body composition, energy balance, and other performance science measurements;

§  Competence in managing REDs and disordered eating cases;

§  Comprehensive knowledge and application of medical nutrition therapy (MNT);

§  Knowledge of complementary medicine, ergogenic aids, herbal supplements, and nutritional supplements;

§  Knowledge of food service quality and safety procedures;

§  Sound computer and presentation skills and effective report preparation;

§  Knowledge and understanding of unique aspects of student-athlete populations;

§  Demonstrated entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to create programs and services to further drive program enhancements;

§  Excellent organizational and analytical skills with the ability to initiate, analyze, monitor, evaluate, and advance strategic plans that support student-athletes and the mission of the University of Michigan, the University of Michigan Department of Intercollegiate Athletics, and Student-Athlete Health & Welfare;

§  Compliance and understanding of Big Ten Conference and NCAA rules;

§  Ability to champion a culture of innovative thought, life-long learning and continuous improvement;

§  Ability to meet Continuing Education requirements as established by the Commission on Dietetic Registration (CDR) and the State of Michigan (pending);

§  Ability to follow policies and procedures set forth by the University of Michigan and the University of Michigan Department of Intercollegiate Athletics;

§  Strong written and verbal communication skills;

§  Must be able to establish and maintain positive working relationships with colleagues, coaches, student-athletes, physicians, and other allied health personnel;

§  Must possess problem-solving and critical thinking skills, innovation and creativity, adaptability, initiative and stress tolerance to various situations in a fast-paced, dynamic work environment;

§  Must provide a high level of customer service;

§  Ability to work long hours, including early mornings, late nights, weekends, holidays, overtime, non- traditional work hours, extended periods of time without days off, travel, and be on-call as a regular part of the position;

§  Ability to lift heavy objects, stand for long periods, work in various environmental conditions, and assist injured individuals on / off playing surfaces;

§  Proven ability to multi-task, work independently, prioritize, and complete tasks in a timely manner.

§  Demonstrated successful leadership and decision-making skills;

§  Demonstrated successful supervisory skills;

§  Demonstrated ability to develop collaborative relationships with both internal and external constituencies;

 

Preferred Qualifications:

§  Board certification as a Certified Specialist in Sports Dietetics (CSSD)

§  Working knowledge of electronic medical record system (EMR)
