JOB SUMMARY:

The Performance Executive Chef will be responsible for managing KitchFix’s catering commissary operation in Chicago, IL. They will provide culinary leadership, including menu planning, event planning, program execution, ordering, cooking, staff management, training, recipe management, costing, and budgeting. 


They will work with and report to the Director of Operations to deliver best-in-class food and service. They will communicate and work with our client dieticians to create menus that meet their performance nutrition expectations. This individual will maintain every aspect of a high-paced, top-performing kitchen operation by holding it to the highest food safety and food quality standards.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Direct the food preparation for all catering business in Chicago, IL, with menus, recipes, and production sheets, supported by our culinary management software system Galley

  • Supervise and participate in preparing and cooking meals that align with KitchFix and client standards

  • Manage vendors, orders, receiving of food, packaging, and supplies

  • Manage COGS from a food and labor cost perspective

  • Be comfortable cooking and serving food from all cultural backgrounds, especially those rooted in the styles of the Dominican Republic, Cuba, Puerto Rico, Japan, and Korea

  • Assist and lead Research & Development (R&D) projects

  • Promote and exemplify a culture rooted in positivity, respect, and growth

  • Oversee and hold yourself and your team responsible for food safety & handling procedures within the kitchen & dining areas

  • Oversee recordkeeping system for kitchen logs, including temperatures

  • Hold a high standard for clean and safe work spaces for all employees

  • Ensure accurate allergen labeling when appropriate

  • Keep up to date with current food trends, new products, and emerging cuisines

  • Develop and maintain a positive relationship with all clients

  • Scheduling, management, and development of kitchen team

  • Hiring and training kitchen team members

  • Inventory management

  • Collaborate with sports nutrition teams and representatives to develop menus and recipes

  • Build strong professional relationships with client dietitians through communication, menu, and recipe development

  • Be a flexible, client-focused, food-driven, team building, systems building, quality maintaining culinarian

  • Manage delivery logistics for orders



QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 3+ years as an Executive Chef with catering, food preparation, food safety, and customer service experience

  • Experience in catering/corporate catering

  • Demonstrated success leading and managing teams of 10+

  • Experience in client-facing roles and be successful in building and maintaining relationships with clients

  • ServSafe food manager certification

  • Chicago Food Service Manager certificate

  • Experience writing client-specific menus

  • Experience ordering and receiving food from local vendors

  • Experience working with recipes and production sheets

  • Experience working with kitchen management software

  • Desire to learn and interest in building meals with lots of flavor

  • Problem solver and creative thinker with the ability to apply analytical approaches

  • Confidence in working with clients who have food sensitivities and allergies

  • Proficient computer skills (PC or Mac), including Microsoft Office (Excel & Word) and Google Suite 

  • Experience with Galley a plus

  • Spanish language fluency a plus 

  • Desire to grow!



WORK SCHEDULE:

  • Ability to work non-standard work week, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, holidays
