Sports Nutritionist

The Cincinnati Bengals Sports Nutritionist will oversee all players’ nutritional needs, including educating players, organizing the team dining area, and working closely with the team chef on menus. This role emphasizes building quality relationships and trust with players while maintaining the best interest of the Bengals Organization. The role will ensure team dining offers high-quality, fresh product that players enjoy, and assists them with peak performance. 

 

Key Responsibilities: 

The successful candidate will be expected to assist in all performance/sports nutrition needs of players through education, meal planning, meetings, monitoring, and documentation of nutritional needs, and food service operations while collaborating with Athletic Training Staff, Strength and Conditioning Staff, Football Operations, Head Coach, Front Office, Team Physicians, and Team Chef’s.

 

Nutrition Education:  

·         Plan and execute player nutrition education (team education, rookie

  success, fueling for performance, training camp fueling, dietary and sport   

  supplements, and impact of supplements on performance) 

·         Provide individualized meal plans and recommendations to help players

  reach and maintain target goals 

·         Review and evaluate weekly target weights in collaboration with health

  and performance team 

 

Food Services and Product Review: 

·         Assist in menu development for in-season and off-season dining area

  meals and snacks, catering, and travel menus 

·         Evaluate dietary supplements for safety, quality, and efficacy. Provide

  recommendations and education on the use of dietary and sports

  supplements 

·         Assess and implement nutritional protocols for injury and recovery in

   collaboration with the Health and Performance Team 

·         Design and implement nutrition signage (menus, educational

   handouts/posters, PowerPoints, etc.) 

·         Oversee fuel station products 

·         In collaboration with Athletic Training and Strength and Conditioning,

   design and implement hydration strategies and nutrition interventions 

·         Develop collaborative relationships with local Universities Nutritional

   Programs (Students, Fellows, etc.) 

·         Be available virtually for any player needs 

     

Qualifications:  

            Minimum Qualifications:  

·         Bachelor’s degree in clinical nutrition, dietetics, food and nutrition or a

   related area 

·         At least one year of experience in sports nutrition setting working with

  division 1 football and/or professional sports 

·         Licensed or eligible   

·         CSSD or eligible 

 

Preferred Qualifications:  

·         Master’s degree in clinical nutrition, dietetics, food and nutrition or a

  related area 

·         RDN credential, eligible, or pursing  

·         CSSD or eligible 

·         At least two years or greater experience in sports nutrition working with

  division 1 football and/or professional sports

·         AED/CPR certified 

 

Position Details: 

·         Paid on an hourly basis 

·         Directly report to the Head Athletic Trainer 

·         Willing to work non-traditional hours and weekends, as needed 

·         Maintaining a level of strict confidentiality

 

Physical Aspects of Positions: 

·         Frequent walking, standing for extended periods of time, and sitting 

·         Occasionally bending, kneeling, pushing, or pulling 

·         Ability to lift at least 45lbs
